Bdays + NC + Healing

I love my birthday! I don’t need material gifts, but I want lots of hoopla! :-D My fam delivered last month: 3 giant cake slices presented upon waking with full family (+ canine) fanfare:

Lunch at Bravery Chef Hall (finally tried Christine Hà’s “Rubbish Apple Pie” at The Blind Goat that helped her win MasterChef! Nước Mắm caramel = ❤️)

Lots of pupper snuggles, & I donated more A+

Will & Annelise hadn’t been to Charlotte in 4 years (me, only once) so we went for a few days at the end of July, mostly reconnecting with friends & family.

Luxe relaxation at my mom’s favorite (she’s friends with all of the sweet people there)

More like family than BFFs:

More bubble tea converts!!! Welcome to our addiction:

At the beginning of July, we worried a trip would be a nightmare for Annelise, with a knee scooter + boot…but she has had the most amazing surgery recovery! She was only in the hard cast 6/30-7/7; after that, she was released to her boot & estimated to wear it at least until her school starts August 17th… But on 7/21, her surgeon was stunned at her mobility & lack of pain, so she is BOOT-FREE! She’s also even brace-free (“unless it hurts” but it’s been 3 weeks & hasn’t, yet!) She’s doing a few sessions of physical therapy, just to make sure she’s moving it right, and that’s it. It was completely worth every out-of-pocket cent… (No insurance appeal update.) What’s next? Not sure…but not back to wrestling. :-/ It was sooo empowering, with the absolute best coaches & teammates EVER…but the risk doesn’t feel safe to her right now, and we’re trying to respect that. She’s definitely getting her first real job soon, though! ❤️

Will turned 18 this month. He had a kickback (GenZ for “chill hangout get-together”) with a few friends on his actual bday night:

My mama heart is reeling a bit, taking in his last 6 months: first real job, drivers license, graduation, girlfriend, adult bday, & now college classes starting in less than 2 weeks. I think most moms get all these teen milestones spread out a bit further apart & probably feel a little more eased into their kid’s growth than this! :-P He’s living his best life, though, so I’m praying with deep yoga breaths…and snuggling our puppers more, instead. :-D
