Cardinal Rule of Life
For the last 4+ hours straight, this crazy female cardinal has been trying to fly through our window. She's not really hurting herself (I don't think) but she just keeps running into the glass over & over & over. It's kind of heart-breaking, (I wish the window had a screen on it & I'd open the glass!) ...and it's rather irritating, too.
I wonder if God feels this way about us, whenever we're floundering - whether we won't give up on something that's not working, or whether we see this reflection of what we think our lives should look like, and even though it's just a mirage, we won't stop trying to get it...even if we're bashing our heads in with each attempt.

Oh my... I have birds that fly into my house all the time bc we have such big windows. I guess they think they can fly right through. Bird sucicide is very sad.
ReplyDeleteAlso, to your point... I feel like I have spent much of my life like that bird. I am such a strong willed person who thinks that I can just fix it myself. Ugh, not so much... It's hard to listen and sometimes, He doesn't say anything which can send even a louder message than saying anything.
yes, those of us that are strong-willed can relate to birds like this! the amazing thing is that God doesn't open the window but waits very patiently for us to finally stop, turn around and ask him what to do - then he provides the wind to move us around the house :-)
ReplyDeleteThat bird started before 8 AM. It's 4 PM and she's *still* at it every few minutes!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I *LOOOOVE* that: "God doesn't open the window but waits very patiently for us to finally stop, turn around and ask him what to do - then he provides the wind to move us around the house :-)"
it is something i have had to learn the hard way :-) i think God sometimes sits there chuckling at us trying so hard to do something in our own strength. "oh what fools these mortals be"... sums it up sometimes :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is SO TRUE!
ReplyDeleteAnd I have to share with y'all - she is BACK today & *still* at it! Today she's even brought along her husband, although he's hanging out in the bush a little more than running his beak into the window, but still...
